Our first priority is children, and our help focuses on the orphanages that do not receive economical support from the government. Often time, these orphans do not receive enough nutrition for lack of donations. Recognizing this struggle to survive, our foundation has been regularly providing food, clothing as well as basic essentials to several orphanages in Nha Trang and the surrounding areas.
We also donated cash to rebuild a kitchen for Thanh Son Temple where 107 orphans are living. In addition, we distributed food to a leper rehabilitation center in Di Linh, Lam Dong and the struggling ethnic families in Suoi Dau, Nha Trang.
Providing financial aid to eligible students in primary, secondary and high schools, we funded 250 students with tuition and books through Tram Huong organization. This local charity organization in Nha Trang is led by Dr. Tran Van Cao and Dr. Kieu Xuan Cu, who have untiringly put in their time and effort to help the people in need. We also directly contributed to a local high school and other orphanages to pay for tuition of 200 students.
Moreover, we paid for two blind students to take computer courses in Sai Gon and hired teachers to teach English at the two orphanages – Thanh Son Temple and Sunflower Compassion House.
We are proud to report that our donations have helped many students stay in schools and improved their English and computer skill.
Besides helping the children, we extended our assistance to a group of young blind people by paying for their training course and equipment to work as masseurs. Our financial support provided them a means so that they would be able to sustain themselves.
We visited the elders at the Khanh Hoa nursing home and the babies at the women’s shelter in Phuong Sai, Nha Trang. We offered the elders gifts including food, clothing and cash, and we gave the babies milk, diapers and cookies. It touched our hearts to see how the elders’ lonely faces lit up when we came to see them and how happy the babies became when we held them in our arms.
We paid for room, board and transportation expenses for 6 blind children at the Khanh Hoa center in Nha Trang to have their eyes examined in Sai Gon. As a result, a young boy - Hieu was eligible for the surgery while others were not due to their medical conditions. We paid for Hieu’s surgery, which was a successful one.
(Please see Hieu’s thank-you letter to our foundation in the comment tab.)
Cataract causes many people blind over time which results in job loss and life difficulties. Fortunately, with the surgery, they can see again. We provided the Tram Huong organization with money to buy lenses and medical supplies for the surgeries, which is $35/case. The eye surgeon, Dr. Le Phu and his team volunteered their time, and a local hospital provided their operating rooms for free of charge. Our foundation has worked with this organization and is positive with the outcome.
Also via the Tram Huong organization, we donated money to buy 50 units of blood to be stored at the blood bank reserve. These blood units will be used for the poor people, who would need them for their operations but could not afford.
